Kaiserschmarrn

Kaiserschmarren is a kind of light, caramelized pancake baked in butter. The name Kaiserschmarren is a compound of the words Kaiser (emperor) and Schmarren (a scrambled or shredded dish). It originates from Austro-Hungarian empire.  It is a very popular dish/dessert in Austria. Its main ingredients are flour, eggs, sugar, milk and butter. It can be prepared in different ways.

Tiroler Knödel

Tiroler knödel is a traditional Tirol dish. It is a savoury dish made of flour, bread, milk, eggs, onion, bacon and sausages. However, there is also a vegetarian version with cheese instead of meat.  Tirol knödel should be garnished with freshly chopped parsley and brown butter, served with warm sauerkraut or salad. The whole preparation process is pretty easy but very time consuming. In the end it's definitely worth trying.

Austriazismen

Here are some words, which are characteristic for austrian dialect. We created them with letters, which we found on streets.
